About therallilos

A community-first marketplace.

Built by artists, not suits. We aren't a venture-backed corporation looking for a billion-dollar buy out. We are two humans that want to build a platform where creators and those who value human creations can find one another. While there are other platforms out there, they tend to put profits over people. We would prefer to take a different approach, one where people are the priority, money does not give privileges, and mass manufactured garbage has no home.

We support creators who design their own work, whether it’s crafted by hand or produced in small batches through ethical partners. We draw the line at mass-produced inventory where the artist’s hand is nowhere to be found. As part of our commitment to a bot-free, human-first community, every creator will participate in a brief introductory video call. This helps us verify their legitimacy and keep drop-shippers off the platform.

Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will therallilos be. We're going to do the best we can with the resources we have. Our priorities are around a working, reliable service. Stability is our first priority. We will not launch 'shiny' new features at the expense of a fast, secure, and working checkout experience. New features will be prioritized based on what creators and those searching to purchase creations need. What falls into the needed category will highly depend on feedback and input from our community.

Our fees will be designed for sustainability, not exploitation. We are exploring a subscription model that covers our server costs and fair, living wages for a small team. While people have subscription fatigue, we believe that a flat subscription fee would reduce uncertainty and the belief that we would give priority to someone who pays us more. The creator who is just starting out and hasn't sold anything is just as important to us as the creator who has sold ten thousand items on our platform. If we based the price on the number of listings and a percentage of sales, this would have given the illusion that we would care more about the opinion and needs of the established creator that paid us more. This would also make it more challenging to know how much using the platform would cost. We plan to keep it simple and fair.

We are real humans with real lives and real day jobs. One of us is a college instructor while the other is a software engineer. We're also creators. One of us makes music and the other is a multi-disiplinary artist. When we aren't working, building this app, or creating something, we're either adventuring with the dogs, watching anime or playing games, or hanging out with our cats, dogs, and chickens.
